Need a new tent and want to know what’s best for going camping this summer? We’ve saved you some legwork and sourced 5 awesome tents that have been given rave reviews by Aussies who have owned them and actually used them, check them out!

1. Outdoor Connection Brampton

This is a great tent for camping in summer, especially if you need a larger tent. A reviewer of the Brampton three room tent says this is the best tent they’ve owned. “This is just an amazing brand. We’ve been in the worst of rain with the tent sitting basically in the middle of the river, and stayed bone try. Heaps of ventilation for the summer months too. Easy to set up.”

Not only does it offer excellent headroom for anyone on the taller side, it has lots of windows and doors for ventilation, ideal for hot summer nights; there are also wall panels which can be erected for extra shade.

2. Apollo Tent

The smaller Apollo Tent by Macpac is ideal for two person camping, easy to set up, lightweight and sturdy. Usually tents don’t have much in the way of storage space but this one has numerous mesh pockets that could come in handy for keeping things tidy.

This is an an excellent tent, according to a reviewer. “ One of the best tents made by Macpac, easy to setup and good value for money. Have used many tents and this is free standing model is one of the best around.”

3. Coleman Chalet 9 CV Tent

This is an excellent tent for all weathers, something you definitely have to think about for camping in Queensland during summer. A reviewer of the Coleman Chalet 9 CV Tent says this one is definitely storm proof. “Recently, we camped near the beach in NSW during a pretty nasty storm (140 mm rain) and not one of us got wet! The tent stayed together — even in the strong winds…if you are looking for a storm-proof tent for a growing family — look no further!”

Features of this three room camping tent include: easy set up, fully sectioned bedrooms, a 200 x 280cm living area, large doors with full mesh screens (no mozzies inside!), a seam-sealed skylight and circle ventilation system.

4. Tourer 10 Plus Canvas Tent

The Tourer 10 Plus Canvas Tent is a very durable tent which is what you need if you’re going to be using it frequently. One reviewer said they’d owned theirs for eight years and it still looks as good as new. “We have owned many tents from dome tents to 2 room canvas tents. This is by far the best for a three day weekend for a family of four. It doesn’t leak. It survives wild wind and storms. It sets up in less than 10 minutes. You can stand up inside it.”

While this tent may not be suitable for a week or more, for a long weekend in summer it’s perfect. It has a quick and easy setup with a single one touch centre pole, is well ventilated with a large front door and full length side windows with awnings that zip closed. It also has a 3 layer Insulcell Roof for summer cool and winter warmth.

5. Aria 2 Tent

A reviewer of the Aria 2 Tent says this Air Pole Tent is excellent because it only took them seven minutes to peg it down and blow it up. Quite a feat for a larger-sized tent. “The Aria 2 is my first ever air pole tent,” they say “In the past I have had fiberglass poles, but after having several cracked and broken poles over the years it was time for a change.”

This double room tent basically erects itself, all you have to do simply pump it up with the provided Dual Action Pump. It features air poles which are made of tough but flexible TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane), 100D HiCount fabric which is strong, waterproof and UV resistant, it is also spacious and well ventilated.
